Our Vision

Our vision is one in which the staff, community and students work together to encourage responsibility, integrity and an enthusiasm for learning. We truly believe that "Teamwork Makes the Dream Work" as we all work together to make decisions that are good for children. There are high expectations for academic achievement coupled with a school wide effort to support all children who are not meeting standards. Parent involvement is high and the culture at Foothill Oaks is positive and productive.

Information for the CAASPP Test

A new kind of testing is happening this year, replacing the previous Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) program. Our District will test between April 21 and May 29, 2015. Students in grades 3-8 and grade 11 will take the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). It's aligned to the new Common Core State Standards in English-Language Arts & Math. Science testing will be updated soon.

Foothill Oaks School's testing window is scheduled from May 5th to May 21st, 2015.

This year's results will set a new baseline for progress students will make over time. More information about results will be provided in the future - the California Department of Education is still working out final details. This year's tests are an important indicator of the readiness of students throughout California to be prepared for current college and career demands.

How can you help your child prepare?

  • Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep and a nutritious breakfast before testing.
  • Discuss the new tests with your child. Make sure he or she is not scared or anxious about the new tests.
  • With older children, explain that the new tests were created to help him or her better prepare for college and career.
  • Explain to your child that the new tests will be more challenging for them, especially the first few times they take them.
  • Tell your child that you and his/her teacher have high expectations and that you are both there to help them every step of the way.
  • Review test results with your child, bringing your child's teacher into the discussion as necessary.
